Hold on to this today · Read the message, not just the moment
All behavior is communication.
A closer look at the phrase you're carrying — and how to actually use it.
What this really means
Behavior is what a child does when their words, skills, or regulation run out. The question shifts from "How do I stop this?" to "What is this telling me?"
Why it works
Under stress the thinking brain goes offline and the body speaks instead — through voice volume, movement, refusal, or shutdown. Language is the first thing to go and the last to come back.
One thing to try today
Before you respond, silently finish this sentence: "I wonder if you're telling me…" Then answer the message, and still hold the limit.
Grace for you
Understanding the message doesn't mean excusing the behavior. You can be curious and still be the adult in charge.
