“Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.”
Through an attachment lens
Delight is an attachment need. Children internalize the face we make when they walk into the room — that becomes their inner voice about their own worth.
What the nervous system is doing
Being genuinely delighted in activates reward pathways and strengthens the neural circuits for self-worth and emotional resilience.
One thing to try today
Say one thing today that is about who your child is, not what they did: "I love how your mind works."
Grace for you
Your child was given to you on purpose — not to a perfect parent, to you. That is not a mistake.
You are doing the best you can with what today gave you. Keep showing up — Jesus covers the rest.
